Cintra CEO Carsten Staehr has signed up to take part in the fourth annual CEO sleepout, taking place on 9 March next year and he wants as many North East bosses as possible to sign up and join him in the fight against homelessness.
Business leaders from across the region will spend the night sleeping at the side of the pitch at Newcastle United in an effort to raise awareness and funds to support the homeless and those living in crisis. For those wishing to find out more about the event, NUFC are hosting an informal networking breakfast on Tuesday the 13th of December at St James Park from 7:45am-9am. The breakfast will give you a chance to meet fellow sleepers, hear more about the amazing work you will be supporting and see where you will be bedding down for the night!
The last CEO Sleepout raised a total of £80,000, making the Newcastle sleepout the largest outside of London. Funds raised during the sponsored sleepout will be split between the Newcastle United Foundation, CEO Sleepout UK and Team Valley-based charity and Cintra client, Changing Lives, whose chief executive Stephen Bell will also take part.
Newcastle United Foundation uses the funds to support its Homeless Football Club, as well as supporting community engagement programmes. The Foundation also encourages participants to get involved in their Employability programmes such as Talent Match and League Works to support their transition back into employment. The funds raised during last year’s CEO Sleepout event are helping Changing Lives provide guidance to people in crisis and help them avoid becoming homeless.
Stephen Bell, CEO of Changing Lives said: “We were completely overwhelmed by the level of support for last year’s event and we’re hoping that we can beat last year’s phenomenal total. This will be the fourth CEO Sleepout in Newcastle. In this period of austerity, which has hit some of the most disadvantaged in our community hardest, please join us in this challenge. Let’s beat London’s record for the highest amount raised at a Sleepout”.
Always one to lead from the front, Carsten is delighted to be supporting Changing Lives: “This is a fantastic initiative. I am lucky that sleeping out is my choice – many people are not so fortunate and I am happy to be able to do my part to raise much needed funds for those in crisis. Cintra participate in many charitable initiatives during the course of the year: colleagues, clients, family and friends are always incredibly supportive and we appreciate how much they back our efforts.”
We have had a whip round in the office to furnish Carsten with some thermals, fluffy socks and a sleeping bag but would welcome sponsorship to make his efforts worthwhile. Please click here to sponsor Carsten…all donations gratefully received, no matter how large or small.
