The Government has changed the rules on self-isolation with effect from Monday 16 August 2021. People who have received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine or who are under the age of 18 will no longer be legally required to self-isolate if they are identified (pinged) as in close contact with a positive case of Covid-19.
Those that are identified as being in contact with positive Covid-19 cases will be required to take a free PCR test. If their PCR test comes back as positive for Covid-19, they will still be legally required to self-isolate regardless of their age or vaccination status.
This change in the rules has been welcomed by employers because it means that those who have been fully vaccinated or are under the age of 18 will be able to attend work, provided they do not have any Covid-19 symptoms.
