Cintra HR & Payroll Services began the season of goodwill slightly early this year with a festive, fundraising wine tasting in aid of one of its favourite charities, COCO (Comrades for Children Overseas).

COCO is an international children’s charity, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, working with communities in remote regions of the developing world on projects that provide children with access to the education that is essential for a good start in life.

Over 100 guests attending the wine tasting held at the BALTIC on an appropriately chilly evening at the end of November, sampled a selection of fine wines under the expert guidance of sommelier, John Mayne. John has in the past taken Cintra guests on a wine tour of the world and this evening was reserved for his personal favourites, giving participants an insight into the best buys to see them through the festive season and guarantee a Merry Christmas!

Carsten Staehr, Cintra CEO and COCO board member, said: “As always it’s a delight to support COCO and to see everyone having such fun in the process. COCO makes a really big difference to the lives of children in marginalised communities. We love that they always tell us how our donations are used and always work on projects that are sustainable.”

The evening was supported by Guerilla, Selenity, Six Degrees, Reward Strategy, RMT, Softworks and Equiniti.

COCO CEO, Lucy Kendall was delighted to be a part of the evening: “We are so grateful to Cintra for choosing to support us and truly hope that this event will become an annual tradition. The funds raised will support our schools programmes in East Africa all of which are essential to poverty alleviation. As well as the funds raised, the event gave us the unique opportunity to meet Cintra staff and clients and talk to them about our work and thank them in person for their support. Thank you Cintra!”
