Cintra once again boosted the fundraising coffers of one of its favourite charities, COCO, when three Cintra teams competed in the gruelling Coast to Coast Challenge last month. On a particularly wet weekend in May, the Bradley Wiggins wannabees cycled 140 miles from Whitehaven to Tynemouth to raise vital funds for COCO projects in South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. The annual Coast 2 Coast race covers some of the North of England’s most demanding roads and tracks, including the fearsome climb up to the 1900 foot summit of Hartside Pass. However, inclement weather, equipment issues and injuries didn’t weaken their resolve: all Cintra teams were delighted to complete the course and were overjoyed to retain the winner’s crown. “It was a tough challenge”, said Operations Director, Suzanne Cowen, “Finishing the race gave a real sense of achievement and the support has been overwhelming. We’re so proud that our fundraising total so far of £2,700 is still climbing”.
