Cintra’s winning streak has rubbed off on the football team it sponsors: The second team within Newcastle University Staff football Club, NUSFC2, have secured the first league win in the clubs history, having claimed the top spot in the Newcastle City Council, Winter Business League 2013.
The Championship League winning team was ecstatic with the result, which comes after a lot of hard work over the last year, building the squad, finding match fitness and improving their performances.
Paul Dearden, team Manager, commented on their success: “The team can be very proud of this achievement. They have been a pleasure to train with and play alongside. The team spirit and ‘never say die’ mentality has resulted in some outstanding comebacks in recent games and winning the league trophy is just reward for everyone’s hard work.”
Cintra’s own Shaun Lowery, who joined Cintra from the University and still captain’s the team, lifted the trophy.
Cintra CEO Carsten Staehr is proud of Cintra’s association with the club and their success: “The team’s league win is fantastic news and we are honoured to have a member of the Cintra family lift the trophy – we know first-hand what a great team player Shaun is! Their team spirit is akin to our own here at Cintra. We too have had a bumper year with double digit financial growth, new talent welcomed into all areas of the business and a couple of trophies of our own. It is great to see us both going from strength to strength. Here’s to the team lifting the trophy this time next year too!”
