Cintra, HR and Payroll services is showing its support for the local community by tackling Newcastle’s first ever powdered paint 5K.
A mix of 34 Cintra employees and their friends and family have signed up to Kaleidoscope 5K to raise funds for St Oswald’s Hospice. They aim to raise £1000 for the charity, which relies on over £6.5 million being gained through voluntary contributions each year.
Cintra are joining over 900 participants being showered with brightly coloured powdered paint as they manoeuvre the track at the Rising Sun Country Park, on Sunday 6th July. The emphasis is on fun, so participants can walk, run, hop, dance or skip – whatever takes their fancy! All proceeds of the event will go to St Oswald’s Hospice, which offers care to local adults, young people and children.
Sales Manager Nham Lee, explained Cintra’s motivation behind helping St Oswald’s came from her own experience at the hospice, when her father was an inpatient six years ago. She said: “St Oswald’s not only looked after Dad really well, but the family too. It made the experience a lot easier. The environment is so nice, like a hotel or home – you forget why you’re there.”
Marketing Manager Gail Affleck Ward added: “Most people at Cintra are aware of St Oswald’s and the work they do. They have experience of how its services can benefit people and wanted to give back. We loved the inclusive nature of this event and everyone is delighted that friends and family can get involved too. Plus there’s a great fun element with the powdered paint.”
From Cintra alone, 8 children between the ages of 2 – 14 are taking part and Nham, who has two girls, aged 6 and 18 months, is currently 20 weeks pregnant with her third daughter – meaning her bump will be St Oswald’s youngest competitor! She continued: “Everyone is excited. The little ones are really keen to get covered in paint. I drive past the hospice everyday with my daughter for school. We drop off stuff when we can and even donated the money we received for our daughter’s 1st birthday to the Hospice – so the kids definitely know about St Oswald’s”
Cintra generously covered the cost of registration for not only their employees, but friends and family too. They’re committed to helping the Hospice, having previously taken part in St Oswald’s Bag It Up Campaign.
