HR and Payroll specialists from around the country gathered in Newcastle to hear the latest on the major legislative changes affecting the industry this year.
The Cintra HR & Payroll Services Annual Conference hosted in Newcastle University’s superb new Business School, brought together industry experts to give Cintra clients the most up to the minute information and guidance possible.
Julie Northover, Senior Business Consultant for the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) gave a thorough presentation covering updates which will continue to change the face of payroll over the coming months, including auto enrolment. This hot topic was then covered in depth by Andy Nicholl from The Pensions Regulator, whose Q&A session could have taken over the whole day!
Peter Wisniewski, gave an insightful presentation, drawing on his experience as ex HR Director of Nike UK, on how to build and maintain an energized culture and Phil Nilson, HMRC returned for a second year to give delegates an overview of on-going life under RTI.
Delegates included many of Cintra’s clients from around the UK and Europe, including major names, such as key London insurance brokers Hiscox Syndicates, together with many others from the Education, Housing and private sectors. Editor of one of the leading payroll magazines, Payroll World, Martin Kornacki was also in attendance: “The conference was a valuable day for Payroll World to attend, to meet and network with Cintra’s end-users, representatives from HMRC and The Pensions Regulator as well as some inspiring speakers that broke the payroll mould.”
Carsten Staehr, Cintra’s CEO, outlined its plans for the future and highlighted the close links it has with tax, pension and other authorities. Links like these allow Cintra and its customers to be well ahead in the preparation for change, with many Cintra clients already successfully participating in auto-enrolment.
Carsten also showcased the latest enhancements to Cintra’s flagship product, Cintra iQ: this fully integrated HR and Payroll system with its unique deployment options is leading the way for the industry. Winner of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professional Awards, Software Product of the Year, two years in a row, Cintra’s in-house development, implementation and support allows it to provide bespoke solutions, tailored to the needs of each individual client.
After a day of in depth presentations which gave delegates much food for thought, the conference ended on a high, with an inspirational presentation from John Blissett on ‘How a child of the British Empire became a Maasai Elder’. John’s fascinating and enlightening tale of his Kenyan childhood transported delegates to another world. John shared his experiences of the Maasai culture and his efforts to both preserve and enhance their environment through his charitable initiatives.
Jacqui Parker from global pharmaceutical company, UCB commented: “As a new client, this was a valuable insight for me into Cintra’s culture. The quality of the speakers was first rate: excellent coverage of important issues with much food for thought and a brilliant opportunity to meet other Cintra customers and staff. In addition, the hospitality has been outstanding – I have been made to feel a part of the Cintra family and will look forward to the event next year.”
