On the evening of Thursday 23rd April, Cintra HR & Payroll Services lined up alongside the pride of the Region’s business heavyweights, including Ryder Architecture, Northumbrian Water, The Newcastle / Gateshead Hilton Hotel, Gentoo Housing and Gateshead College for the North East Culture for Success Awards.

Now in it’s second year, Service Network’s Culture for Success Awards has grown significantly since it’s inception last year, with a record number of companies eager to demonstrate the vital role that their employees play in their success.

Our category – for organisations with less than 50 employees category, was easily the most hotly contested category, with 14 nominations and 6 companies shortlisted.

After weeks of deliberation by a panel of judges, the winners were announced at an awards ceremony at the Turbine Hall in the city’s historic Castle Gate centre last night and it was therefore no shame, that we were runners-up in the Small Business category – pipped to the post by the narrowest of margins by the revitalised Northern Stage’s outstanding submission.

Entrants were judged against four key criteria; staff development, customer service, business growth and contribution to the region, and judged in categories according to the number of employees.

Andrew Dixon, Chief Executive of The Newcastle / Gateshead Initiative and Executive Director of Tourism for the North East, was judge and Compere of the Culture for Success Awards.

Andrew said:

In such difficult economic times, it is those companies who recognise the impact that good employees have on customer service and profitability, that will not only survive the recession but accelerate out of it. Cintra HR & Payroll Services is such a company to keep our eyes on in the future”.

By next year, we expect to be competing in the medium sized 50-250 employee category and armed with the experience of last night’s event, our fervent hope and prayer is that we can go one better next time ‘round.
