Cintra once again fielded a strong squad for the annual Sunshine Fun Run and were delighted that one of their team, Alan Wear, took the top spot with an impressive time of 16.41.
Cheered on by colleagues, friends and family, the 21 strong team put on a good show with all team members completing the 5K race in under 43 minutes and over two thirds completing the course in less than half an hour.
The Sunshine Fund was established in 1928 by King George V on his visit to Tyneside to commemorate the opening of The Tyne Bridge. Today the North East fund works to enhance the lives of local disabled children and their families through the provision of essential equipment, learning aids and custom built apparatus. Backed by many high profile Geordies, including Ant and Dec, Cintra are proud to lend their support to this worthy cause too. Cintra CEO, and adopted Geordie, Carsten Staehr said: “At Cintra we go the extra mile for our customers on a daily basis, so to go three (and a bit) miles, for such a worthy cause is second nature to us!”
Cintra have participated in the Sunshine Fun Run now for the past 5 years and the team continues to grow year on year. As ever, the Cintra runners were greeted with cheers and well-earned beers at the end of the race by their loyal and enthusiastic supporters! Seasoned runner Alastair Green commented: “It’s a pleasure to run in the Cintra team. The atmosphere is great – a healthy level of competition amongst the runners but overall everyone is there to have fun – something Cintra are very good at!”
