Andrew Thompson, of our Bureau department, will soon be doing his bit for charity once again. He has decided to run 10 marathons in 10 months in memory of his good friend Chris Hills, who he lost to leukaemia.

“Chris was a good friend of mine from sixth form- he was good at everything and liked by everyone which is a rare mix.  He was destined for success and achievement and he was a real winner.”

This year Andrew will be running various marathons aimed at raising funds for Leukaemia Research and Coco.

Both charities lie very close to his heart for different reasons.

Wearing his club running top, Andrew will compete in the first marathon ‘The Gin Pitt Marathon’ on Saturday 12th March. It is a new race which takes place around the canals of Greater Manchester and Andrew is hoping for a nice flat route.

Cintra will be supporting Andrew all of the way and will be holding a “buffet day” where we hope to raise some money for Andrew’s chosen charities. Employees will make pies, cakes, sweets, pasta and rice for the day. Anyone who wants to eat will be required to donate a small contribution. The buffet day will be held on Monday 14th March to help kick start Andrew’s marathons and his tummy! Any money raised by employees, will be matched by Cintra, and we are hoping to raise around £150 – £200. Our efforts will not stop there as we are constantly discussing how we can promote the amazing work Andrew is doing.

Carsten Staehr, Cintra’s CEO, stated, “Chris’s story has touched our hearts and we feel it is only appropriate to support Andrew in his journey. Cintra are very proud to be a part of this worthy cause by supporting Andrew in his quest to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Andrew’s other chosen charity, Coco, is close to the heart of our staff, specifically because it is local and everyone is aware that the money raised is going to a well-deserved cause.”

Any Cintra client’s wishing to make a donation should contact either Andrew or Katrina Brownless on 0191 478 7000. All contributions, no matter how small, will be gratefully received.
