The Pensions Regulator recognises that the type of employer they need to communicate and engage with has changed. This is as smaller employers are bought into the Automatic Enrolment (AE) arena for the first time.
As a result, some of their key messages and terminology has been replaced with simpler terms, with ‘buzzwords, jargon and acronyms’ avoided and legal terminology kept to a minimum and clearly explained when used. In this regard, they have produced their ‘Plain English Guide to AE’. This is designed for advisors and industry professionals who may have a role in advising the small and micro employer.
TPR point out that nothing has changed from a legislative perspective, however, they are keen to present the technical and legal definitions in a way that people that will readily understand.
Personally, I think that this ‘Plain English’ guide applies to all employers and, maybe, it would have been easier from the beginning if we had had this. However, Cintra welcomes this as they do the new Website ‘Workplace Pensions’, which is a collaboration between TPR and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
