Statutory maternity pay (SMP)
The 2024/25 SMP weekly rates are:
The first 6 weeks: 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings
Weeks 6 – 39: £184.03 or 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings, whichever is lower
Statutory maternity pay usually goes hand in hand with statutory maternity leave.
Statutory paternity pay (SPP)
The 2024/25 SPP weekly rate is:
£184.03 or 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings, whichever is lower.
As an expectant father you’ll be entitled to 2 weeks of paternity leave.
Statutory adoption pay (SAP)
The 2024/25 SAP weekly rates are:
The first 6 weeks: 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings
Weeks 6 – 39: £184.03 or 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings, whichever is lower
Shared parental leave (ShPP)
The 2024/25 ShPP weekly rates are:
£184.03 or 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings, whichever is lower.
Shared parental leave can be shared amongst both of the child’s parents, and you can decide how best to split the time between you.
