2025 Minimum Wages by US State
What are the minimum wages required per state?
In the US there is a federal minimum wage, and a state minimum wage, which can make knowing what you need to pay your people a little bit complicated. Minimum wages are based on which state the business is set up, and where the employee is contracted to work. And what you might find is that some employees will choose to live in alternative states—but the state they’re contracted to is the rate you need to consider.
The federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour for most workers. This minimum wage applies across all 50 states, however, there are 30 states (listed below) who have created their own minimum hourly rates.
